Preparing for Home-Based ABA Therapy
Home-Based ABA therapy can be convenient but it’s important your home is prepared properly to enable the ABA therapist to provide the best care possible.

Dedicated Space
The best space for home-based ABA therapy sessions doesn’t have distractions. For example, a room that doesn’t have a TV or other electronic devices.
It’s also a good idea to use the same space for every session to promote consistency and allow your child to feel comfortable within that space. You can discuss which areas would work best with your Board Certified Behavior Analyst when they first arrive in your home.

Tools
A comfortable learning environment with developmentally appropriate materials is important for ABA therapy. A child-sized table and chairs are recommended. During therapy sessions, your ABA therapist might use sensory tools, toys, puzzles, or other items. It’s best to store these items away when they’re not in use. This helps keep them special and effective for therapy sessions.

Get Involved & Be Available
Caregivers, parents, and siblings can go about their normal routines in the home during therapy sessions. There must always be a responsible adult present and available in case we would like to bring you into the session. We encourage parents to observe and participate in ABA therapy and your Board Certified Behavior Analyst will review expectations with you.
